Having a good pair of binoculars by your side will allow you to see thing that are far away. With  binoculars you can view nature up close while standing far away in a safe place. Binoculars let you see more than just what the naked eye sees.  Binoculars have a wider field of view. There are different strengths for binoculars for bird watching you may be good with binoculars that are 8 - 10x magnification.
