Shackles are used to lift, secure and rig heavy loads on a ship. Shackles are the primary connection of rigging. D shackle are the most common and popular shackle found on a traditional sailboat. The Standard pin in a shackle will be fully removable. Allen screw heads are also available, and captive pins. When choosing a shackle make sure you refer to the manufactures' table for the safe workloads of the shackle. The pound capacity should be imprinted on the shackle and its should be visible.
