ACT's 6-pad, spring-centered race disc features a spring-center to properly damp torsional vibrations and resist failure under harsh conditions. ACT spring retainers utilize wraparound spring windows and thicker retainer stampings to provide spring support, reduce stress concentrations, and increase strength and reliability. With the 6-pad, spring-centered race disc, engagement is harsher, but shifting is faster. The 6-pad, spring-centered disc is recommended for larger clutch sizes to absorb more heat. The ACT Heavy Duty pressure plate uses an exclusive diaphragm design to increase clamp load, reduce deflection, and help maximize clutch life. Each diaphragm undergoes a four-stage heat-treating process, while precision cover stampings improve rigidity and consistency. The pressure plate is 100% clamp-load tested and dynamically computer balanced to support smooth, reliable operation at high RPM.

The spring-centered 6-pad race disc uses carefully selected ceramic friction materials for high heat tolerance and maximum performance. Wraparound spring windows and thicker spring retainer stampings provide improved spring support, reduce stress concentrations, and increase reliability. The result is light to moderate pedal effort with harsher engagement, faster shifting, moderate friction life, and possible OE to mild gear rattle.
