The aluminum body dissipates heat faster than conventional steel construction, while the external reservoir helps manage heat during extended off-road driving. Black anodized, CNC-machined aluminum components, a redundant sealing system, and heat-treated, Teflon-lined spherical bearings support long-term durability in harsh environments.

The FOX 985-02-003 is fully serviceable and tunable, allowing the shock to be maintained or adjusted for longer service life.
